MEET VUZI BUTHELEZI: DIRECTOR OF THE CAMPBELL COLLECTIONS

In February 2002 the young and talented future Director at the Campbell Collections, UKZN, was appointed to his first position of Curator of the Lwandle Migrant Labour museum outside Cape Town. He held this position until 2004 during which time he was in charge of the overall management of the institution and was actively involved in research and mounting of exhibitions.
His fluency in IsiZulu and Ndebele were vital in giving guided tours of the museum
In 2004 he joined the Robben Island Museum, University of the Western Cape working as a researcher involved with the Mayibuye Archives. He held this position until 2010.
In November 2010 he moved to KwaZulu-Natal to take up the position of Senior Museologist . Campbell Collections. In this capacity he played a vital role in Collection Development, conservation and preservation of the collections in his care, marketing of the museum and its collections, exhibition development and giving guided tours and in the vital function of fund raising for the museum.
In January 2014 Vuzi Buthelezi was appointed Head of Department and Director at the Campbell Collections.
